German wine was the most searched wine in Wine-Searher
Wine lovers around the world must have used Wine-Searcher at some points to search for their favourite wines or compare wine prices. Since its inception in 1999, France, led by Bordeaux, has been the most searched wine in this biggest wine database in the world. At its latest report on the past 10 years wine trend, it was revealed that although France still leads the pack as the No.1 wine country, Bordeaux is slipping in terms of popularity with users. What is encouraging is that Germany ranks ahead of New Zealand at the 9th place. German wine search has increased by 817% over the last 10 years. The next best one is Italy with 626% increase in search. Wine-Searcher stated, 'The clear winner is Germany, …. The past 10 years have shown a bigger increase in interest among Wine-Searcher users than any of the other main wine-producing countries, as crisper Rieslings and increasingly impressive Pinot Noirs have hit the market.' This year Riesling Weeks is not quite the same because of Covid-19. Overseas visitors are not allowed to enter Hong Kong yet so we may have to miss the 71st German Wine Queen Angelina Vogt from Nahe. Having said that, Riesling Weeks is as excited as pervious years. The Murray Hong Kong, The Ritz Carlton Hong Kong and The Mira Hong Kong are joining the list of leading hotels to include German wine in their June campaign, some with delicious seasonal asparagus x wine menus. For those who like cooking, don’t miss the Foodie’s asparagus online competition! Scroll down for the full Riesling Weeks’ participants and their offers. Finale Celebration with the German Wine Queen Although it is our tradition to invite the German Wine Queen to kick off Riesling Weeks in June, the situation this year unfortunately makes this impossible. However, we hope that Angelina Vogt, the 71st German Wine Queen from Nahe, can be allowed to visit us in July and host the finale celebration. Undated information will be posted on Riesling Weeks website and Facebook page. Stay tuned!
